Hi! I’m Jessica Krohn, Owner of Petal and Thorn Cut Flower Farm. Previous to starting my journey with the flower farm, I was blessed to have a very rewarding and successful career as a hairstylist and makeup artist for 25 years. Recently, I retired to pursue a new adventure! I have always loved all things creative, and I have a good eye for color palettes, textures, and design.
I recently discovered Floret Flower Farm and just completed their intense online course. I love their mission and approach to high intensity and sustainable flower farming. I have learned how to grow 2 acres worth of flowers on just ¼ of an acre! I have always had a love and appreciation for flowers. Until now, I guess you could say my husband were hobby farmers. From the time it was warm enough in the spring until the temps started to freeze in the fall, you would find us both outside in our flower gardens. I remember a few years ago thinking how fun and rewarding it would be to grow flowers for florists and designers, but honestly didn’t think it would ever happen. Recently, I learned that 80% of all flowers in America are imported from another country. When I learned about the amount of chemicals used on the flowers to preserve them so they last that long, I was astonished, not to mention everything else involved in the process to get them here that is harmful to our environment. It is frightening!
I am thrilled to be able to offer beautiful, sustainably grown flowers to the local market. Although we are not certified organic (yet), we are committed to be as pesticide and chemical free as possible.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the farm!
